Lost your appliance’s manual?
Don’t worry, this is a common issue. Manuals go missing quicker than cookies in a cookie jar!
The good news is that you’ve come to the right place.
In this article, you’ll learn how to find a manual for pretty much any appliance or product. We’ll also help you find detailed tech and installation sheets that can come in handy when you’re dealing with more technical fixes, which often get left out of the owner’s manual.
If that sounds good, then let’s go find that manual.
How to Find Your Product Manual Online
Losing a manual is something that can happen to the best of us. Luckily, the Internet is a great resource for finding all the information we need.
The 3 ways to find your product manual online are:
#1 Find It Via Google
You can easily find most product manuals on Google. They’re typically available for you to download as a PDF or view online.
But, before searching for the manual on Google, you need to know the brand and model number of your product.
This information is usually printed on a label on the product itself and on the packaging. So, try checking for any labels on the sides, back, bottom, or inside your appliance.
Once you’ve located the label, please write down the brand and model number. Then, go to Google and type it in the search bar, followed by “Manual” or “User Guide”.
For example, if you’re trying to find the manual for a Whirlpool dishwasher, you’ll need to type “Whirlpool WDP560HAMZ Manual” in the search bar and hit Enter.
Check the list of results and access any reputable sites. If possible, I recommend downloading the manual as a PDF. This makes it super convenient to access it later on without having to search for it again.
#2 Check the Manufacturer’s Website
If Google hasn’t returned what you’re looking for, it’s worth checking out the brand’s website.
You should be able to find the manual in the “Support” section. But keep in mind that this may vary depending on the manufacturer’s site.
To continue with the previous example, if you want to find the manual for a Whirlpool dishwasher, you’d need to go to whirlpool.com, click on “Service & Support”, and choose “Product Manuals” from the menu.
Then, you’ll be asked to enter the model number. Remember, this information can be found on a label on the back, sides, bottom, top, or inside your appliance.
Once you’ve entered the model number, you’ll be able to see the owner’s manual and warranty information. Please download these documents.
Here’s a few quick links to some major appliance manual support centers:
#3 Check Online Retailers’ Websites
Apart from using Google or checking the manufacturer’s website, you can look for the manual on online marketplaces, such as Best Buy or Amazon.
For example, if you search for the product’s model number and brand on Best Buy, you’ll need to click on the “From the Manufacturer” section and scroll down. You’ll see the product features, specifications, and documents, including the manual.
Then, download the manual and any other important documents, such as the installation instructions, the dimension guide, or the warranty.
On Amazon, you can search for the product and scroll down to “Product guides and documents”. Then, choose “User Manual” from the options.
Finding Appliance Tech & Installation Sheets
Having your installation and tech sheets is also very important to safely install, use, and take care of your appliance.
Tech and installation sheets are similar to a user manual, but not the same thing. They’re typically packed with more detailed information about the installation and operation of your appliance that can help you avoid costly repairs.
They include assembly steps, troubleshooting tips, wiring and piping instructions, and other important details that can help you or a technician solve different issues that may arise with your appliance.
If you can’t find these sheets, don’t worry, you’re not alone. They can go missing quicker than a cookie in a cookie jar!

#1 Check the Manufacturer’s Website
The easiest way of finding your appliance tech and installation sheets is by going to the manufacturer’s website.
But before doing this, it is important to know your appliance’s brand and model number. Remember, this info can be found on a label located on the back, bottom, sides, or inside your appliance.
Once you know the model number and brand, go to the manufacturer’s website and type this information in the search bar. Then, hit Enter.
Now that you’re on the product page, please scroll down until you find the tech and installation guides, they’re typically in the “Owner Support” or “Manual & Documents” section. Then, download them.
You can also search for the product on online retailers’ websites, such as Amazon or Best Buy, to find the installation and tech sheets.
#2 Contact the Manufacturer’s Support Team
Normally, you can find the tech and installation sheets on the manufacturer’s website, but sometimes they may not be available.
When this happens, the best thing you can do is contact the manufacturer’s support team. They can either email you the documents or tell you where you can find them.
To contact them, you’ll need to go to the manufacturer’s website and click on the “Customer Support” section.
For example, if you have a Whirlpool appliance, you’ll need to enter whirlpool.com, click on “Service & Support”, and select “Contact Us”.
Then, choose how you’d like to contact them (by phone, mail, or chat). Here’s an email template you can use:
Subject: Request for [appliance type and model number] tech & installation sheet
To whom it may concern,
I own a [appliance type and model] and I can’t find the tech and installation sheets on your website.
Could you please email me these documents or let me know where I can download them from your website? I would really appreciate it.
Please let me know if you need any additional information, thanks in advance!
Best Regards,
[Your Name]
Normally, the manufacturer’s customer support will send the installation and tech sheets for free. They’ll never ask for sensitive information, such as credit card numbers or passwords.
#3 Consult a Database of Appliance Manuals
In case you weren’t able to get the information from the manufacturer’s customer support, don’t worry.
There are some sites where you can pay a small fee to access multiple appliance manuals.
Our appliance expert recommends appliancetechmanuals.com. This site has more than 150,000 available manuals from all major manufacturers and allows you to purchase a one-time 24-hour pass for $19.99 or a monthly pass for $25.
If you only look up manuals occasionally, I recommend getting the 24-hour pass.
Don’t forget to keep the model number and brand handy to find the appliance tech and installation sheets quickly.
If you’re going to pay for the 24-hour pass, try downloading the user manuals, tech sheets, and installation guides for all your appliances (washer, dryer, microwave, oven, fridge, freezer, etc.) at once.
This way, you can access them whenever you need them without having to pay the fee again.
